why do you think that she has linux?
and secondly she said that she need to switch between onboard graphic card to a card that she has.

Answer:
You need just to find a pciE slot in the motherboard to put there your graphic card
or AGP
usually its next to PCI slots and they are usually in gray colors
the pciE slot or AGP usually is in some blue color

if you have windows its usually switch to the new card immidietly.
if you have linux then maybe you will need to configure it by your self

in both cases you will need to put a drivers and depends what company the graphic card is
usually today graphic cards are ATI or Nvidia Made so..the sites are

there search for Drivers section and you will find a list of operating systems that you must be using one of them.

Ofcourse those drivers are not an Open drivers and if you wish to get some open drivers it could be hard.
this is not a question to me.
the only thing i know about open drivers that they are not good for new graphic cards
